Measure the Vitality Factor
to determine the overall energy level of a person
The first record of acupuncture is found in the Huang Di Nei Jing (Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine). This is the oldest medical textbook in the world and is thought to have been written about 4,700 years ago. It is said to have been compiled from even earlier theories by Shen Nung, a brilliant physician and medical theorist, considered by many to be the father of Chinese Medicine. Shen Nung documented theories about circulation, pulse, and the heart over 4,000 years before their discovery in European medicine. Shen Nung theorized that the body had energy running through it. This energy is known as Qi. Qi is the motive force of all essential life activities including the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspects of one's being. Qi travels throughout the body along "Meridians" or special pathways. The Meridians (or Channels) run bilaterally; that is, they are the same on both sides of the body. There are fourteen main meridians running vertically up and down. Of these, there are twelve organ Meridians and two unpaired midline Meridians. Acupuncture points are specific locations where the Meridians come to the surface of the skin, and are easily accessible by "needling." Since energy constantly flows up and down these pathways, the connections between them ensure that there is an even circulation of qi. A person's health is influenced by the flow of qi in their body. If that flow is insufficient, unbalanced or interrupted, illness may occur.

In long studies in our laboratory (following the system of acupuncture) we found, that the energy can be measured. In order to do this, two self-adhesive electrodes are attached to two special acupunture points. The measurement stabilizes within one minute and shows the energy condition at that point in time.

Our measurements have shown, that biofeedback training does not change the readings, concluding that the energy level does not change. On the other hand the readings are a function of the overall energetic condition of the individual. Sick and weak persons will show readings in the plus region, whereas healthy and strong individuals will show readings in the minus region.

With many people we found that nutrition plays a role in the vitality factor. Taking a measurement before and after a meal (i.e. lunch) will show if the food replenished energy or not. Using this measurement approach, we can now test the energetic compatibility of many products.

With the measurement of the vitality factor, you can determine how your energy level is. The measurement points are two acupuncture points, in chinese medicine called the seats of qi, one in the neck LG13 and one about 2 inches below the navel KG4.

To measure the vitality factor use the ULP-Dual Cable. This way you can find out if your vitality should be improved.

Plug the connector of the dual cable into its receptable:

  • grab the cable connector such that the screw points down.
  • plug the connector into its receptable, the connection should be smooth and easy.
  • grap the collar, push it forward und turn it to the right until it stops.
  • the whole connection should now be solid.

Attach the shorter blue wire to a self-adhesive electrode and place it on acupuncture point KG4 (front), attach the longer blue wire to a self-adhesive electrode and place it in the neck to acupuncture point LG13.

Turn on the instrument by moving the power switch in the back of the instrument to the position "I". Read the values from the LCD-Displays

The readings of the left LCD-Display are the vitality factor.
